Quest Giver: Overlord Drakuru — Voltarus, Zul’Drak

Objective: Use the Scepter of Suggestion on Blight Geists and order them to harvest 7 Blight Crystals.

• Level: 75
• Location: Reliquary of Pain (ground level below Voltarus), Zul’Drak
• Chain Position: Drakuru’s task for So Far, So Bad. Completing It Rolls Downhill satisfies the “complete Drakuru’s tasks” portion of So Far, So Bad. You also need to dilute 5 Blight Cauldrons (Stefan’s sabotage objective) before turning So Far, So Bad in.
• Do Alongside: The Blight Cauldrons for So Far, So Bad are in the same area. Dilute those between geist runs to save time.

Walkthrough

Getting Started

• Pick up the quest from Drakuru inside Voltarus, then use the teleporter (the green circle on the ground floor) to travel back down to the Reliquary of Pain.
• Make sure your Ensorcelled Choker disguise is active. If it’s not, reapply it before interacting with any geists. Using the teleporter to exit should keep your disguise intact, but double-check.
• Do not mount up. Some players report that mounting causes geists to bug out and despawn. Walk on foot for this quest.

Commanding the Geists

• Target a Blight Geist near the teleporter platform and use the Scepter of Suggestion. This is a channeled cast, so stand still until it completes. The geist needs to be in range when the channel finishes, not just when it starts, so get close since they hop around a lot.
• Once charmed, a pet action bar should appear with a single ability: Harvest Blight Crystal. Walk your geist close to one of the gold/orange Crystallized Blight formations on the ground near the platform, then click the harvest button.
• If the pet bar doesn’t appear: Press CTRL+1 (or SHIFT+1 on Mac) to activate the harvest ability. You can also try /console reloadui to force the UI to refresh. If you use an addon like Bartender that overrides action bars, make sure your pet action bar is enabled and visible.
• On Retail/Dragonflight+, you may need to toggle the Pet Bar on in Edit Mode.

Waiting for Credit

• After the geist harvests a crystal, it will walk to the teleporter platform and disappear. Wait until your quest tracker updates before charming a new geist. Charming a second geist while the first is still walking will despawn the first and you will not receive credit.
• Stay relatively close to the platform area while the geist delivers. You don’t need to follow it step for step, but don’t wander too far off.

Watch for Blightguards

• Blightguards are the dark, ghostly mobs patrolling the area. They can see through your disguise and will aggro you, your charmed geist, or both. If a Blightguard breaks your disguise while a geist is mid-delivery, you lose that crystal’s credit.
• Clear Blightguards from your working area before starting, or pick geists and crystals away from their patrol paths.

Efficiency Tips

• Work near the teleporter platform. Pick geists and crystals close to the platform to minimize delivery walk time. Avoid the southern ramp area, where geists have been reported to stop moving on the flat section.
• Between geist deliveries, dilute a Blight Cauldron for So Far, So Bad. The cauldrons are scattered around the Reliquary of Pain. Note that diluting a cauldron can spawn a hostile Blightguard, so move away quickly afterward.
• If your geist despawns immediately after charming, remove your Scourge Disguise (right-click the buff) and reapply it via the Ensorcelled Choker. This fixes the most common bug.

Class-Specific Tips

• Hunters: Dismiss your pet (use the actual Dismiss Pet ability, don’t just run out of range). Some players report needing their pet fully dead, not just dismissed, if dismissal alone doesn’t work.
• Death Knights: Dismiss your ghoul before starting. If using Unholy spec, make sure no undead pet is active. Alternatively, Death Knights can use Control Undead to command geists directly without needing the Scourge Disguise, bypassing most of the quest’s bugs.
• Druids: Shapeshift forms can override the pet action bar placement. Look for the harvest button above your keyring area or use CTRL+1.
• Warlocks: Dismiss your demon before starting.

Troubleshooting

• Geist despawns instantly: Reapply your disguise. If that fails, log out and back in.
• No pet bar appears: Try CTRL+1, /console reloadui, or disable conflicting UI addons.
• Geist won’t harvest: You’re too far from a crystal. Move closer. If the geist shrugs and mumbles at you, you’re out of range.
• Lost credit after 5+ geists: You were likely charming new geists before the previous ones delivered. Slow down and wait for the quest tracker to update each time.
