Walkthrough
Head west from the Drak’Sotra camp to [49, 76]. The crashed sprayer is a large structure on the ground, not a small lootable object. It’s hard to miss once you’re in the right area. Look for a cloud of dust particles at ground level.
The crashed sprayer is near where Crusader Josephine lies for the Leave No One Behind quest, so if you’ve done that quest, you already know the area.
Right-click the sprayer to collect the Plague Sprayer Parts, then return to Specialist Cogwheel at [58, 72].
Interaction Tip: Sometimes, an “out of range” error occurs when trying to click the sprayer in WotLK Classic. If this happens, move around the object and try clicking from different angles. Standing near a corner or at the base tends to work.
Note: There are also active plague sprayer remains visible in nearby fields. The quest objective is the specific crashed sprayer at [49, 76], not those other wreckage pieces.
Cogwheel’s reaction when you hand over the plague-tainted parts is great:
“Ew, those things are totally gross! Okay, okay, hand them over and I’ll see what I can do. I probably should have had you take them to a priest first for purification.”
Lore Context
Cogwheel explains the plan in her quest description: the Scourge plague sprayers from Kolramas are getting dangerously close to the Argent Crusade outpost.
She’s combining the nerubian spinnerets (from the previous quest) with salvaged sprayer parts to build a device that can bring the sprayers down.
This quest is the middle step in Cogwheel’s engineering chain. The spinnerets provide the web material, the sprayer parts provide the mechanical components, and in the next quest (A Tangled Skein), you’ll put Cogwheel’s invention to use against the active plague sprayers.

The crashed sprayer wasn’t hard to find. Even broken, the thing had mechanisms still hissing with toxic intent. Scourge engineering was ugly, efficient, and unnecessarily spiky.
Cogwheel stepped back when I handed over the parts. “Ew, those things are totally gross! Okay, okay, hand them over. I probably should have had you take them to a priest first for purification.”
He was already tinkering. “Okay! Let me just see if I can fashion these disgusting parts into something useful.”
A pause. Then: “Eureka!”
Cogwheel’s invention was finished, spider silk and plague machinery fused into something that probably shouldn’t work. Time to test it in A Tangled Skein
