Gurgthock introduces Orinoko with one of the chain’s best backstories: he was once a peaceful tuskarr fisherman whose entire family was killed by lion seals and “ill-tempered penguins,” turning him into a mercenary. It’s played entirely for laughs.
The quest name “Tuskarrmageddon” is a portmanteau of “tuskarr” and “Armageddon.”

“This next one’s fightin’ from a dark place, kid,” Gurgthock warned. “The kind of dark that can only happen when you’ve been on the flip-side. He’s hungry and willing to do whatever it takes to win. I’ve heard he wrestles yetis for exercise!”
The crowd fell quiet as we circled each other. They were used to spectacle, elemental lords and magnataurs putting on grand shows.
“Come, land-dwellers, face the fury of tusk and whisker!”
His first strike was deceptively fast, a thrust I barely caught on my mace. Tuskarr are known for their fishing, their trading, their jovial nature. But Orinoko fought like he’d trained in darkness, in ice.
Then he covered himself in something foul-smelling. Thick sauce, fish-based.
“Whisker! Where are you?! Assist me!”
Two things happened at once. A massive lion seal burst from somewhere, all muscle and surprisingly sharp teeth. And then the penguins came.
Waddling death in miniature. Dozens of them, drawn by the fishy scent, swarming with a viciousness that had no business existing in something that adorable.
Mardagan consecrated the ground and the penguins walked straight into it. Holy fire and waddling did not mix well. Briee’s cat threw itself into the swarm with what looked like genuine delight. Deajavu stood in the middle of the chaos with both blades drawn, looking personally offended that his combat training had come to this.
I kept my focus on Orinoko.
We traded blows. Whisker caught my leg, teeth scraping plate. I kicked the seal loose. Briee whistled her cat off the penguins and redirected it toward Whisker, the two animals colliding in a snarling tangle.
The opening came when Orinoko overextended on an impale. I sidestepped, let his momentum carry him past, and brought the mace down on his back. He staggered, tried to rise. The second blow made sure he didn’t.
Wodin was shaking his head when we climbed out. “I was worried for a while there. When he busted out the seals and penguins… Well, I didn’t know what to think to be honest. It looked pretty damn ridiculous.”
Deajavu was still picking feathers out of his armor. “If anyone asks, we fought a magnataur.”
Next was Korrak the Bloodrager. Old name, bad memories.
The penguins were cleared and the crowd was still laughing, but nobody was laughing about the name Gurgthock announced next in The Amphitheater of Anguish: Korrak the Bloodrager!
