Quick Facts
Walkthrough
This is where the Amphitheater gets serious. Korrak isn’t just another arena monster; he’s a returning WoW legend with abilities designed to punish groups that don’t burn him fast. Gurgthock introduces him as a Drakkari “power play,” and he’s not kidding.
Korrak’s Abilities
| Ability | Effect | Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Charge | Charges an enemy, inflicting damage and stunning for 2 sec. | Stay grouped; don’t let him charge isolated healers. |
| Uppercut | Inflicts 300% weapon damage and knocks the target back. | Tank positions with back to a wall or arena center. |
| Grow | Korrak physically grows, increasing damage dealt by 10%. | The DPS race. Each stack makes him hit harder. Burn him down. |
| Enrage | Attack speed increased by 100% for 12 sec. | Dispellable enrage effect: Hunter Tranquilizing Shot, Rogue Anesthetic Poison. |

Lore Context
Korrak the Bloodrager is one of WoW’s oldest named NPCs. He first appeared in Patch 1.5 (2005) as a neutral elite controlling the Snowfall Graveyard in Alterac Valley. He’s the chieftain of the Winterax tribe of ice trolls, and his nickname “the Everliving” comes from his repeated deaths and resurrections across multiple patches.
His arena dialogue is a direct callback to his AV days. He yells: “Korrak has come, weaklings! Snowfall belongs to Winterax! Erm, Korrak mean to say amphitheater belong to Winterax!” and “No graveyard here for you to play wicked games on Korrak! DIE!”
Both lines reference the Snowfall Graveyard PvP tactics, where players would train Korrak away to capture the graveyard.
Gurgthock’s completion text is a deep cut: “Damn, I remember Korrak from way back in my younger days when I used to work for the Frostwolf Clan.” This confirms Gurgthock was present in Alterac Valley during the original faction war.
Lore-wise, the Drakkari sent Korrak as their champion after he was “empowered by the Loa,” making him far more dangerous than his AV incarnation.
He’s unique among ice trolls for having orange skin rather than the typical blue or white.

Vikstone's War JournalKorrak.
The name hit harder than any blow I’d taken in this arena.

“You’re not gonna believe this, pal,” Gurgthock announced. “Your next fight is against Korrak the Bloodrager! Looks like the Drakkari trolls are pulling a power play! He’s been sippin’ the animal god juice. He’s good and ready to pound you into the ground.”
The dire troll entered, larger than I remembered. Muscles warped by stolen Loa essence, veins pulsing with power that was never meant to be his. But those eyes, that sneer, the way he moved.
Alterac Valley. The Snowfall Graveyard. How many times had Alliance forces cut him down, only to watch his Winterax shamans drag him back from death?
“Korrak has come, weaklings! Snowfall belongs to Winterax!” He paused, confused by his own words. “Erm, Korrak mean to say amphitheater belong to Winterax!”
The Loa essence burned through him like fire through dry wood.
My companions spread wide. Briee’s arrows found his eyes, his throat, every gap in the Loa-warped muscle, buying inches of distance when Korrak pressed too close. Deajavu worked the flanks, cutting tendons that healed almost as fast as he could sever them. Gabe kept us standing. Mardagan fought at my shoulder, the paladin’s holy strikes searing the Loa essence wherever his hammer landed.
I watched for the patterns I remembered from the valley, the tells that survived despite his newfound godhood.
The mace found his knee. He staggered. Deajavu’s blades opened his flank from behind. Mardagan’s hammer seared the Loa essence in his blood, and Korrak screamed at that, the stolen power recoiling from the Light like oil from water.
Korrak roared, rallied, came again.
The dire troll fell for what might have been the hundredth time in his cursed existence. But there were no Winterax shamans here to work their resurrection magic. No graveyard games this time.
Wodin shook his head as we climbed out. “Damn, I remember Korrak from way back in my younger days when I used to work for the Frostwolf Clan. He would never shut up! I think you just did the world a great service.”
Deajavu was cleaning troll blood off both blades. “So that’s Korrak. He’s shorter than the stories.”
“He’s dead shorter now,” Briee said.
Five champions dead, and the crowd could taste the finale. Gurgthock saved the worst for last in The Champion of Anguish
