“It’s about time we had planes up and running in this place. The professor’s been asking me to check out a strange weather pattern coming from the northeast. Thing is, I’m going to need a co-pilot if we’re going into uncharted territory. No way in hell I’m heading out there alone. What do you say, tough-guy?
You might learn a thing or two. And once you learn to deal with the northern winds… you can pretty much fly anywhere.”

Lore Context
Vic is scouting The Avalanche at the request of “the professor” (likely Tamara Wobblesprocket or another Lakeside Landing researcher). The Avalanche is where the Cult of the Damned sabotaged the Lifeblood Pillar, one of the Titan pylons that maintained Sholazar’s tropical climate and Scourge barrier.
With the pillar destroyed, snow from Icecrown collapsed into the basin, creating a frozen beachhead for the Scourge invasion. Flesh giants, abominations, and cultists patrol the area.
This flight gives players their first aerial view of the Scourge incursion into Sholazar, setting up the zone’s larger “Weapon of the Titans” questline involving the Avatar of Freya and The Etymidian.
Vic’s completion text plays on airline cliches: “Please make sure your seats and tray tables are in their upright and locked positions…”

Vikstone's War Journal“The professor’s been asking me to check out a strange weather pattern coming from the northeast,” Vic said, patting his flying machine. “Thing is, I’m going to need a co-pilot if we’re going into uncharted territory. No way in hell I’m heading out there alone. What do you say, tough-guy?”

The Basin spread beneath us as we climbed. Nesingwary’s camp shrank to a cluster of tents. The great pillars glinted in the morning sun.
Then Vic went quiet. “Looks like the Scourge have hit the area pretty bad…”
Undead moved through the jungle below. But that wasn’t what silenced him. At Rainspeaker Rapids, something vast and luminous fought against a tide of skeletal ravagers. Thirty feet of her, wreathed in nature’s light, wearing a woman’s shape the way a mountain might.
“You see that?” Vic whispered. “She’s… huge!”
The Avatar of Freya. Had to be. Titan-forged, defending what remained of Sholazar’s heart.
We flew on. The temperature dropped. “Here we go! Hold on tight—there’s rough wind ahead!”
The Avalanche loomed before us. Ice seeping south from Icecrown, carrying death with it. Scourge architecture pushed up through the frozen mass, spires where there should have been nothing but ice.
“The glacier is seeping in from Icecrown… and undead everywhere! Wait ’til the professor gets a hold of this!”
Then the Frosthowl Screechers came. Undead things, wings trailing shadow, shrieking as they dove. “They’re coming at us! Be quick with those rockets!”
The launcher kicked against my hands. Each shot found its mark, screechers tumbling in flames. But more came. A shadow bolt caught the engine.
“Aggggh! I’m hit!” Vic slumped forward. “You’re going to have to get us back! Quick, before the plane explodes! The engine’s blown!”
Smoke poured from the hull. I took the controls. Flying a crippled machine through hostile airspace wasn’t in my training, but neither was dying in a fireball over Sholazar. Screechers harried us the whole way. We landed hard at Lakeside, skidding to a stop in the markers.
Vic coughed, grinned through the pain. “You saved my life up there, buddy. Nice flying!”
A titan-forged guardian holding a line at one end of the Basin, Icecrown’s ice creeping in at the other.
Vic would report a weather pattern. What we’d actually found was the front line moving south.
Vic lived, the professor would get her report, and the war Vikstone had just seen from the air was going to have to wait, because Lakeside Landing still had smaller work for The Part-time Hunter.
