Spill Their Blood

Quest 5 of 5 in the Fleshwerks Chain (Finale)
Both Factions • Icecrown • Level 80 • Blackwatch
Destroy 5 vats of Embalming Fluid and shatter 5 Blood Orbs.
Both objects sit in the same labs around 32, 70, and neither can be attacked. Right-click them. The Blood Orbs sparkle and the vats do not, which is why people finish one half of this quest long before the other. Look for round green containers rather than waiting for a glow. Only the Spiked Ghouls are hostile, so you can walk past constructors and chained abominations, and those ghouls drop the Jagged Shard that starts the next quest.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
The whole factory ran on blood and preservative, which meant breaking the supply was quieter and worse than breaking the product. Arly laughed when he got back and told him he reeked of victory.

“The Scourge cannot create their flesh monsters without blood and embalming fluid to preserve the parts and keep them functioning. If we can deny them these materials, their army will fall apart and we can easily destroy their creations. Throughout the labs where the flesh giants and abominations are cobbled together, you will find vats of embalming fluid and large orbs filled with blood.

Destroy these, and bring death to any who would stop you!”

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Darkrider Arly — Blackwatch, Icecrown [35.4, 66.3]

Objective: Destroy 5 Blood Orbs and 5 vats of Embalming Fluid in the Fleshwerks.

Quick Facts

Walkthrough

Both objective types are in the abomination and flesh giant labs around [32, 70].

  • Blood Orbs: Large glowing red objects. They sparkle and are easy to spot. Stand close and right-click to shatter them. You cannot attack them normally.
  • Vats of Embalming Fluid: Round green containers with metallic filigree. These do NOT sparkle, making them harder to spot than the Blood Orbs. They’re in the same general area. Right-click to destroy.

You need 5 of each. There are enough of both types in the area that you won’t need to wait for respawns.

Efficiency Tips

  • Constructors and Abominations Are Non-Hostile. The skeletal constructors and chained abominations in the labs will not attack you unless provoked. Only the Spiked Ghouls are hostile. You can walk past constructors and abominations to reach objectives without fighting.
  • Druids in Flight Form. Druids can hover over the objects in Flight Form and right-click to interact without landing or shifting out.
  • Jagged Shard Drop. While killing Spiked Ghouls in the area, watch for Jagged Shard drops. This item starts the quest Jagged Shards, which feeds into the next tier of the Fleshwerks chain. The Spiked Ghouls here have a good drop rate for the shard, so you’ll likely pick it up naturally while clearing for this quest.
  • I’m Not Dead Yet! unlocks now. Father Kamaros in the Fleshwerks offers the escort quest I’m Not Dead Yet! once this quest becomes available (you don’t even need it in your log, just unlocked). Grab it while you’re in the area.
  • Vat Visibility. If you’re having trouble finding vats, focus on the green containers near the cauldron areas. They blend in more than the Blood Orbs due to lack of sparkle.

Vikstone Portrait Act 3

Throughout the labs. So back into the same two rooms I stood in yesterday with her orbs in my hands, except this time nobody was going to let me walk out.

The vats are man-height and they go over easily once you get the weight moving. What comes out is thick and it steams on the cold floor. It does not smell of anything I could name.

The orbs sit above their pedestals rather than on them, and the blood inside is moving on its own.

I broke four more.

The spiked ghouls came at me through all of it and one of them left something in the mess that I put in my pack without looking at it properly, which I will come back to.

And the work went on around me the entire time. The constructors did not stop. A giant on a slab in the second room was being sewn while I was tipping a vat eight feet from its head.

A dark, hollow laugh greeted me when I reported to the darkrider.

“You reek of victory, elf, and that is good news, indeed.”

The Spiked Ghouls had been carrying something all along that nobody at Blackwatch had thought to look at, pulled off a corpse in the middle of the sabotage run and worth a second glance once the labs stopped bleeding, Jagged Shards.
