Quest Giver: Keritose Bloodblade — The Shadow Vault, Icecrown [44, 25]

Walkthrough

Start the Bombing Run

• After accepting the quest, speak to Keritose again (same NPC) to receive a skeletal gryphon. You’ll be mounted on an autopiloted gryphon that loops over the Weeping Quarry (~39, 36).
• You have one ability on your vehicle bar: a bomb. Press 1 or left-click to drop bombs on the undead below.

Bomb Everything

• The bomb is a ground-targeted area attack with no cooldown and no global cooldown, so you can and should spam it continuously. Press 1 rapidly or mash left-click as you fly over groups of undead.
• The gryphon makes approximately three passes around the quarry. 80 kills sounds like a lot, but with the spam-speed bombs and dense packs of mobs below, most players finish within a few minutes.
• Focus on clusters rather than individual mobs. The quarry is packed with skeletal workers, plague beasts, and other undead, so aim for the thickest groups.
• The undead are “practically defenseless” as Keritose puts it. They won’t fight back against your gryphon.

Efficiency Tips

• Accept Amidst the Confusion at the same time. That quest has a separate ground-based objective, but both become available together and lead into the same follow-up chain.
• You cannot complete this quest on foot. Kills made by hand without the skeletal gryphon vehicle do not count toward the objective.
• On high-population servers with latency, the bombs can feel unresponsive. If your targeting reticle lags behind the gryphon’s movement, try spamming bombs slightly behind your current position where the indicator shows red.
• Leave the gryphon manually once you have your 80 kills rather than waiting for the route to end.

Lore Context

This is the payoff for the entire Eidolon Watcher infiltration chain. Keritose’s plan came together in stages: first you learned to control the shade (Parting Gifts), then you used it to dismantle the quarry’s defenses by destroying crystals, feeding guard hounds, and assassinating lookouts. With those defenses stripped away, the Ebon Blade can now bomb the quarry openly.

Keritose’s dialogue: “We’re looking to destroy anything moving, and get in there and steal some information amidst the confusion.” The bombing run (this quest) creates the chaos, while Amidst the Confusion is the intel-gathering that happens under cover of that chaos. The two quests are the same operation from different angles.

The Weeping Quarry is a saronite mining operation. Saronite is the crystallized blood of Yogg-Saron, and mining it drives workers insane. The Scourge uses undead labor specifically because they’re already mindless.

Keritose wants to know what the Scourge is building with all this saronite, a question that feeds into the broader Malykriss storyline (the Scourge’s planned replacement for Acherus).
