Walkthrough

Find the Fern Feeder Moths

• Head northeast from Ruuna’s Camp toward the forested area between the camp and Westfall Brigade Encampment. The moths are scattered across a wide area northwest of Grizzlemaw.
• Best farming spots:
  • [47, 37] — Southwest of Westfall Brigade Encampment. Reliable cluster.
  • [50, 29] — Along the road heading north. Good concentration.
  • [52, 28] — Northeast of Ruuna’s location. Another dense spawn area.
  • [55, 32] — Near Westfall Brigade Encampment. Tends to be less contested.

Kill Moths and Collect Gossamer Dust

• Fern Feeder Moths are level 73 beasts. They drop Gossamer Dust at roughly a 40-50% rate, so expect to kill around 8-10 moths.
• The moths have a distinctive glowing yellow aura that makes them easy to spot against the forest floor.
• Return to Ruuna the Blind at [44, 48] once you have all 4 Gossamer Dust.

Efficiency Tips

• Do Alongside: If you’re heading to or from Westfall Brigade Encampment [59, 26], the moth spawns sit right along your travel path. Grab this quest before traveling between the two hubs.
• Mr. Floppy’s Perilous Adventure starts at the Heartwood Trading Post, southeast of the encampment and close to the moth area. Pick up both if you’re questing through this stretch.
• Hunters: Fern Feeder Moths are tameable (Moth family). Note that they lose their distinctive yellow aura once tamed.
• If the area around [47, 37] is busy with other players, head to [55, 32] where competition is typically lighter.

Lore Context

Ruuna the Blind is a seer who claims to speak with the dead and see visions of the past and future. She uses the Gossamer Dust to brew a potion for the next quest in the chain, Out of Body Experience, which lets you witness a vision of Archmage Arugal being resurrected by the San’layn princes on orders from the Lich King.

This chain is the connection between the Silverbrook/Wolfcult discovery and Sasha’s hunt for Arugal. After witnessing the vision, you’ll be sent to White Pine Trading Post to join Sasha’s effort.

For Classic players who cleared Shadowfang Keep and killed Arugal there, this chain reveals how the Lich King brought him back to lead the Wolfcult in Grizzly Hills.
