“The Westfall boys were sent east to look for a path into the northern territories. Their secondary objective is to secure strategic resource points, so I’m sure they wouldn’t mind investigating a mine. Look for the Westfall Brigade encampment far to the northeast and seek out Gryan Stoutmantle. You might remember him if you ever spent any time in Westfall. Make sure to tell him I sent you.
He’ll be more than happy to let you claim a functioning mine for the king.”

Vikstone's War Journal“The Westfall boys were sent east to look for a path into the northern territories.” Dumont traced the route on his map. “Their secondary objective is to secure strategic resource points, so I’m sure they wouldn’t mind investigating a mine.”

Hollowstone Mine. Where Mikhail’s journal said Silverbrook’s leaders held their final meeting.
“Look for the Westfall Brigade encampment far to the northeast and seek out Gryan Stoutmantle. You might remember him if you ever spent any time in Westfall.”
I remembered. The People’s Militia. Sentinel Hill. Red bandanas and the stench of the Deadmines. Stoutmantle standing in that stone tower, rallying farmers against the Defias Brotherhood while Stormwind looked the other way.
That felt like another lifetime.
The Westfall Brigade Encampment was larger than I expected: fortified positions, organized patrols, the discipline of soldiers who’d followed their commander across the world. Stoutmantle stood at the command tent, older now, wearing a captain’s insignia he’d earned the hard way.
He looked up as I approached. Recognition flickered across his face.
“Vikstone.” A faint smile. “With your help, the Defias are no longer a threat. But we’re a long way from Westfall up here, and if we don’t win this battle, there may not be a home to return to.”
He set down his papers.
“Dumont sent you? Very well. Let’s see what you can do for us.”
Strange, meeting old allies in new wars. The Defias had seemed so dangerous once. Now they were just practice for what came after.
The Defias had seemed so dangerous once. Stoutmantle has bigger problems now, and the first one is waiting underground in Hollowstone Mine.
