Walkthrough

Getting There

• From Amberpine Lodge, head southwest toward Conquest Hold [21, 64]. The Evergreen Trading Post is a small outpost just west of Conquest Hold at [16, 65], visible on the map as a tower icon near the road.

Retrieving the Chest

• The Cedar Chest is inside the building at the trading post, guarded by three Conquest Hold Grunts.
• At level 73-75, these guards are manageable for most classes. Pull carefully if you’re undergeared; there’s no reason to fight all three simultaneously.
• Stealth classes (Rogue/Druid): You can stealth past the guards and loot the chest without any combat.
• Loot the chest and return to Lieutenant Dumont at Amberpine Lodge.

Known Bug: Unlootable Chest

• If questing in a group, the chest may become unlootable for the second player after the first person loots it. Logging out and back in resets the chest.

Efficiency Tips

• This quest sends you into Horde territory southwest of Amberpine Lodge. If you’ve picked up other quests that involve enemies in this direction, knock them out on the same trip.
• Completing this four-quest chain (through An Exercise in Diplomacy) unlocks the next phase of Grizzly Hills content, including Wolfsbane Root and Northern Hospitality, which lead toward the Silverbrook conspiracy and eventually the Vordrassil/Ursoc storyline.

Lore Context

The “local trappers” requesting Alliance help are the residents of Silverbrook, a trapper community north of Amberpine Lodge. The Alliance doesn’t know it yet, but these trappers are secretly members of the Wolfcult, and this alliance of convenience sets up one of Grizzly Hills’ best storyline twists.

The locked chest and its mysterious contents hint that something isn’t quite right about this arrangement.
