Kill 8 Conquest Hold Marauders west of Silverbrook around [24, 36].

Standard melee mobs, no special mechanics. Head west from Silverbrook and pick them off along the road and camps. Collect Wolfsbane Roots on the return loop. Same warning: Turn in before Escape from Silverbrook or Silverbrook NPCs go hostile. Completing both this and Wolfsbane Root unlocks Test of Mettle, where the Silverbrook storyline takes a darker turn.

Vikstone's Classic Expedition

Sergei's grin showed too many teeth. When Vikstone returned with eight dead marauders, the trapper appraised him like a butcher weighing meat and said he might not be as soft as some of the others.

“It’s good to meet you. Let us celebrate our pact by partaking in some good old fashioned Horde-killing. You’ll find marauders from Conquest Hold just outside our town, west of here. Why don’t you head out there and hunt them like the filthy animals they are?

Let’s see if our new allies can back all their talk with some action.”

Quest Objectives:
Kill 8 Conquest Hold Marauders (level 73-74).
These mobs are scattered to the southwest of Silverbrook, in a concentrated area around 24, 36.
Quest Location:

Pairs With: Wolfsbane Root (collect 8 roots around Silverbrook). Both unlock from An Exercise in Diplomacy and should be done together.

Walkthrough

Head west out of Silverbrook. The Conquest Hold Marauders (level 73-74) are scattered along the road and around camps between Silverbrook and Conquest Hold, roughly around [24, 36].
They’re standard melee mobs with no special mechanics. Straightforward solo kills at level 73-75.
Collect Wolfsbane Roots as you circle the area, then return to Sergei in Silverbrook.

Efficiency Tips

It’s recommended to head west to kill marauders first, then circle the village perimeter to gather roots on the return trip.
Same warning as Wolfsbane Root: Turn this quest in before accepting Escape from Silverbrook later in the chain, as that quest turns Silverbrook NPCs hostile.
Completing both this and Wolfsbane Root unlocks Test of Mettle, which sends you to kill Sergeant Bonesnap and begins the darker turn in the Silverbrook storyline.

Filthy animals. This, coming from a man whose friend couldn’t touch common weeds.

The Conquest Hold marauders patrolled the woods west of Silverbrook in loose formations. Orcs, mostly. A few trolls. Standard raiding parties pushing against the village perimeter.

Eight dead by the time I finished. The work was familiar, at least. Straightforward violence with no mysteries attached.

When I returned, Sergei appraised me like a butcher weighing meat.

“Not bad, not bad.” He nodded slowly. “You might not be as soft as some of the others.”

Some of the others. How many Alliance soldiers had come through here? How many had passed Sergei’s tests?

I cleaned my axe and wondered what the next one would be.

Sergei said Vikstone might not be as soft as the others, and the trappers have one more test in mind. The Silverbrook story gets darker in Test of Mettle.
