The quest text frames this as a conservation effort. Trapper Mau’i explains that the Kalu’ak plan to attack Snowfall Glade to stop wolvar raids, and wants pups rescued beforehand so the species can survive and “hopefully be less aggressive” in future generations.
The wolvar are small, wolverine-like humanoids found across southern Northrend. Other tribes appear in Howling Fjord, Grizzly Hills, and Sholazar Basin, where the Frenzyheart wolvar are a full reputation faction players can ally with.

“We must move decisively against the wolvar if we’re to have a chance of survival,” Trapper Mau’i said. “However, I worry that in our zeal, too many of them will be slain.”
He set a large satchel on the dock between us.
“The Snowfall Glade wolvar have as much right to exist as do we. You and I will see to it that they get that chance. While you’re up there, I’d like you to bag up their pups and bring them back to me.”
Save the children of the enemy even while killing their parents.
Snowfall Glade spread across the northern hills, wolvar territory marked by crude huts and the smell of fish and fur. The adults saw me and reached for weapons. I didn’t blame them… my kind had given them plenty of reasons.
But I wasn’t there for the adults.
The pups clustered near the huts in small groups, watching the world with bright curious eyes that hadn’t yet learned to see threats everywhere. When I approached, some ran and others simply stared, too young to understand what the tall stranger with the heavy weapon meant.
I gathered them carefully, placing each one in the satchel with more gentleness than I’d shown anything in weeks. They squirmed and whimpered, confused but not afraid. Not yet.
Mau’i peered into the satchel, then let out a long breath through his tusks.
“Well, I guess you saved plenty of them.” He gathered the bag carefully, his large hands suddenly tender. “Thank you. Now the wolvar will have a chance of surviving along with us. If we survive at all, that is.”
The pups were safe with Mau’i and Snowfall Glade was no less of a problem, and Ko’nani had more immediate concerns about supplies out of that same glade, because with a harbor besieged on every side you Let Nothing Go To Waste.
