Walkthrough
Head west from Fizzcrank Airstrip to Steeljaw’s Caravan around [49, 21]. The area is littered with dead orc soldiers and supplies, surrounded by hostile taunka spirits.
Warsong Outfits (10)
Loot the outfits from the dead orc bodies scattered throughout the caravan wreckage. Look for corpses emitting green gas clouds.
Mounted Looting: You can interact with the bodies while mounted. If you have a flying mount, hover over each corpse to avoid aggroing the taunka spirits entirely.
Warsong Banner (1)
The banner spawns near Steeljaw’s Corpse at [49, 26]. It’s a large, vertical Warsong Offensive banner that’s easy to spot. If someone recently picked it up, wait for it to respawn.
Lore: The Fall of Steeljaw’s Caravan
Crafty explains what happened: “Steeljaw’s caravan, just to the west, stupidly took a shortcut through a taunka graveyard and was destroyed by their risen spirits.”
Force-Commander Steeljaw was leading a Warsong supply caravan south of Bor’gorok Outpost when he made a fatal mistake. Rather than take the long route around, he decided to cut directly through a sacred taunka burial ground. The taunka are Northrend’s native tauren cousins, and their ancestors did not take kindly to having their graves trampled by orc wagons.
The spirits rose and slaughtered the entire caravan. Steeljaw himself died fighting the enraged ghosts, and now his corpse lies among his fallen soldiers, still clutching the banner he carried.
From the Horde perspective (quest: Report to Steeljaw’s Caravan), this is a diplomatic disaster. High Overlord Saurfang’s reaction: “That dimwitted cur, Steeljaw, tried to take our caravan of supplies on a shortcut through a taunka graveyard! We just struck up relations with them!” The Horde had only recently allied with the taunka, and Steeljaw’s stupidity risked that entire alliance.
Context: Crafty’s New Plan
Since the Shortening Blaster failed to actually weaken the magnataur, Crafty pivots to psychological warfare. Her new plan: make the magnataur think the Horde is their enemy instead of the gnomes.
In the follow-up quest, you’ll wear a disguise made from these stolen outfits (combined with leftover Hallow’s End costume pieces), kill the magnataur chieftain Magmothregar, and plant the Warsong banner on his corpse. When the surviving magnataur find their dead leader with Horde colors all over him, they’ll redirect their aggression toward Bor’gorok Outpost instead of Fizzcrank Airstrip.
It’s not exactly honorable warfare, but Crafty doesn’t seem concerned: “Personally, you’d never catch me dead in such rags.”

Vikstone's War JournalCrafty recovered from her shrinking blaster failure with alarming speed. “Okay, don’t panic! The blaster might not’ve worked, but we still have options.”
She snapped her fingers. “We’re going to divert attention away from the airstrip!”
Then she looked me up and down, appraisingly.
I didn’t like where this was going.
“Steeljaw’s caravan, just to the west, stupidly took a shortcut through a taunka graveyard and was destroyed by their risen spirits.” She grinned. “Head over there and get some outfits off the dead orcs. Pick up one of their banners, too. I’m no seamstress, but we’ll find something to fit you. Add a touch of my engineer genius, and poof! You’ll look the part you need to play.”
The part. An orc. She wanted me to dress as an orc.
Found Steeljaw’s caravan west of the airstrip. The taunka spirits had done their work thoroughly. Dead orcs scattered among overturned wagons, their gear strewn across the frozen ground. I collected ten outfits and a tattered Warsong banner, trying not to think too hard about what came next.
Crafty wrinkled her nose when I returned. “Nice, but those clothes reek! Personally, you’d never catch me dead in such rags.”
No. She’d catch me alive in them instead.
Crafty had the outfits, and all she wanted was for him to put one on, kill a chieftain, and leave a Horde banner on the body, so that afterward everyone would agree It Was The Orcs, Honest!
