Walkthrough
Location: Lake Kum’uya, west of D.E.H.T.A. Encampment at approximately [51, 44]. The lake is southeast of Amber Ledge.
Head west from the D.E.H.T.A. camp to reach Lake Kum’uya. The Loot Crazed Divers are spread throughout the lake, both swimming underwater and walking along the lakebed.

Tips for Success
Pair with Ears of Our Enemies: These divers count for both Happy as a Clam AND Ears of Our Enemies. If you have both quests, you’ll collect ears while getting your 10 kills.
Underwater combat: The lake isn’t deep, so breathing isn’t a major concern. Ranged attacks or instant-cast abilities work best. Druids in Aquatic Form have an advantage. Standard underwater movement reduction applies.
Respawn rate: Divers respawn quickly. If the immediate area seems depleted, swim to a different part of the lake or wait a few seconds.
Known Bugs
The Loot Crazed Divers have been reported as buggy in WotLK Classic:
Evade bugging: Some divers get stuck in evade mode and can’t be killed. Skip these and find others.
Stuck underground: A few divers spawn partially buried underground and are untargetable. Move to different divers.
Teleporting behavior: Some divers may appear to teleport into the water when engaged. Follow them and finish the kill.
If the quest seems bugged: Log out and back in to reset the spawn. Moving away from the lake and returning can also help force respawns.
Story Context: Endangered Clams
Hierophant Cenius explains the stakes:

“Go to Lake Kum’uya and locate the loot crazed divers. Slay them until the water runs red! Return to me when a proper example has been made!”
Hierophant Cenius is a tauren druid and one of D.E.H.T.A.’s more zealous members. Her instructions to make the water “run red” and set a “proper example” demonstrate D.E.H.T.A.’s increasingly extreme methods. Upon completion, she’s satisfied:
“Now let us see how their nerve holds up when they see what became of their companions!”
The divers are harvesting pearls from giant clams, an activity that threatens the world’s only known population of freshwater giant clams. D.E.H.T.A. considers this species-level extinction threat worthy of a lethal response.
Chain Overview: The Clams Questline
This chain is one of four required to unlock The Assassination of Harold Lane and earn the D.E.H.T.A’s Little P.I.T.A. achievement.
Warning: Animal Blood Debuff
As with all D.E.H.T.A. quests, killing any animals (including hostile beasts) in Borean Tundra gives you the Animal Blood debuff. While active, all D.E.H.T.A. NPCs, including Hierophant Cenius, become hostile, preventing quest turn-in. Remove by jumping into the water or by waiting for it to expire.
The divers are humanoids, not animals, so killing them won’t trigger this debuff.

A lesson must be taught to those who would endanger an entire species.”
He leaned closer.
“Go to Lake Kum’uya and locate the loot crazed divers. Slay them until the water runs red! Return to me when a proper example has been made!”
Until the water runs red. For clams.
The divers were exactly where Cenius said they’d be. There were ten of them, harvesting pearls from the lake bottom. They were pearl farmers with diving equipment and no combat training.
I did what I was told and the water ran red.
“It is gruesome work that we do,” Cenius said, as if we’d been clearing weeds from a garden. “Now let us see how their nerve holds up when they see what became of their companions.”
I let him have his satisfaction. The druids were fighting their war and I was just the weapon. I wondered if the clams appreciated the sacrifice.
The druids had received word that one of their own had gone missing near the coast, and she hadn’t reported in. Vikstone was off to The Abandoned Reach.
