Finding Lurgglbr:
Lurgglbr is in a cage in the same room as Glrglrglr (the Keymaster quest giver), deep inside Winterfin Caverns. If you’ve done Keymaster Urmgrgl, you’ve already been here.
The Escort:
If Lurgglbr Is Missing:
If another player is currently escorting him, you cannot accept the quest. Wait for him to respawn at his cage after the previous escort completes.
Escort Behavior (The Bad News)
This escort is notoriously slow and frustrating.
Worst escort ever.
Tips to Speed It Up
Clear ahead if possible: Kill murlocs on the path before starting the escort, or while Lurgglbr is pausing after combat.
Avoid crabs: Don’t attack neutral crabs along the way. He stops every time you enter combat.
Don’t pull mobs to him: Let him engage first when unavoidable. If you pull extra mobs, he may chase them and extend the escort.
Avoid other players’ mobs: Mobs that they aggro can cause Lurgglbr to chase as well. Do this quest during low-population times if possible.
Surprisingly resilient: He can survive, but babysitting is safer.
Completion Warning
When Lurgglbr says “This is far enough, I can make it on my own from here”, the escort phase ends. However:
Do NOT immediately mount up and fly away. Quest credit doesn’t register until about 5 seconds after his final line. If you leave too quickly, the quest fails, and you’ll need to escort him again. Wait until you see the objective update before departing.
After the escort succeeds, return to King Mrgl-Mrgl at Winterfin Retreat to turn in and claim your reward.
Story Context: Coldarra’s Magic Spreads
Lurgglbr provides important information about what’s happening to the Winterfin tribe. King Mrgl-Mrgl’s reaction: “This is wonderful news! And you say that Lurgglbr discovered that the emanations from the caverns are what caused this insanity?”
The mystery is solved: “It must be that the magic from Coldarra is growing stronger. The Nexus War… the battle between the blue dragonflight and all of the other dragons, is spilling over. Soon, we will all be embroiled in it!”
The Winterfin corruption isn’t Claximus’s doing alone. He exploited arcane energy leaking from Coldarra (the blue dragonflight’s stronghold to the north). The Nexus War between Malygos and the other dragonflights is having unintended consequences on the local wildlife and inhabitants.
Reward Note: Tank Weapon
The Shell Smasher is notable for early tanks. It has higher Stamina than typical early WotLK quest rewards AND includes dodge rating, making it valuable for warriors and paladins starting their tanking journey in Northrend.

Lurgglbr was different from Glrglrglr. Where that one had fled alone, this one waited.
“The lock on my cage doesn’t look too solid,” he said, studying the bars, “but I’m not foolish enough to try to leave without assistance. Will you help me get out of these caverns?”
That kind of thinking has kept soldiers alive.
I broke the lock, and we moved together through the tunnels, slow and steady. The mind-controlled murlocs attacked in waves, drawn by movement or sound or whatever instinct still functioned beneath the arcane corruption. I put them down while Lurgglbr stayed close, trusting me to handle what he couldn’t.
It was a long walk as escort work always is. But he didn’t panic or do anything stupid. When we finally emerged onto the shore, he made straight for the Retreat.
King Mrgl-Mrgl listened to my report.
“This is wonderful news! And you say Lurgglbr discovered that the emanations from the caverns are what caused this insanity?” The night elf’s voice dropped beneath the costume. “It must be that the magic from Coldarra is growing stronger. The Nexus War. The battle between the blue dragonflight and all the other dragons is spilling over.”
He looked toward the distant spires of Coldarra on the horizon.
“Soon, we will all be embroiled in it.”
The murlocs were just the beginning. Whatever was happening with the blue dragonflight, it was getting worse.
The Nexus War was reaching well past Coldarra’s borders and the murlocs were the proof of it, and south of all this the druids of D.E.H.T.A. had a war of their own that opens with A Mission Statement.
