The Scourge’s reach extended deeper than any of us thought. Fanatics from the mainland had made it into Northrend, and they’d been practicing their devotions right beneath our feet.
I found Captain Lugsail above deck. A gnome, standing barely higher than my belt, but carrying himself like he commanded a fleet.
“Cultists? Below deck?” His voice cracked. “I ought to have my whole crew flogged!”
Then, quieter: “Listen… why don’t we have Admiral Cantlebree take care of this… situation?”
I said nothing. Let him pass the problem up the chain. What mattered was that someone knew.
The enemy had learned to blend in, to mask itself within our ranks. First, the sinkholes beneath us. Now rot within our own walls. Valiance Keep was under siege from every direction.
Lugsail wanted no part of it, so the news had to go higher, and higher meant Notify Arlos.
