“You’re a proven hero. I have another problem! My boss, Tinky, went east with Bixie Wrenchshanker and I CAN’T get the outgoing on this thing to work! Tinky’s the only one that can fix it and we really need it working one-hundred percent. You think you could find them? Bixie said something about following some old magnataur to a place called The Dens of Dying.
I’m guessing that’s where you’ll find them. You can catch a ride out there by talking with Kara Thricestar at the runway.”

Story Context
Mordle still can’t get the transmatter’s outgoing teleportation working. His boss, Tinky, is the only one who can fix it, but Tinky went east with Bixie to investigate some old magnataur heading to a place called The Dens of Dying (where magnataur go to die, as the name suggests). Mordle needs you to track them down because the transmatter needs to be “one-hundred percent” operational.
This quest transitions you from the Fizzcrank Airstrip mechagnome storyline into a new mini-chain dealing with plagued magnataur and the crashed Scourge necropolis of Talramas.
Easter Egg: Battlestar Galactica Reference
Kara Thricestar is a direct reference to Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, the iconic fighter pilot from the reimagined Battlestar Galactica television series (2004-2009). Played by Katee Sackhoff, Starbuck was the Colonial Fleet’s best Viper pilot, known for her exceptional flying skills, rebellious attitude, and callsign inherited from the original 1978 series character.
The WoW NPC’s name combines “Kara” (first name) and “Thricestar” (a play on “Thrace” and “star,” referencing both her surname and her “Starbuck” callsign). As a gnome flight master coordinating aircraft operations, she’s essentially Fizzcrank Airstrip’s version of a CAG (Commander, Air Group), just like her namesake.

Vikstone's War Journal“I have another problem!” Mordle was still fighting with the teleporter. “My boss, Tinky, went east with Bixie Wrenchshanker and I can’t get the outgoing on this thing to work. Tinky’s the only one who can fix it.”

He pointed toward the runway. “Bixie said something about following some old magnataur to a place called The Dens of Dying. Talk to Kara Thricestar. She’ll fly you out.”
The Dens of Dying. Not a name that inspired confidence.
Kara had a flying machine waiting. The flight was brief, the view grim. Magnataur territory stretched below, scarred earth and massive tracks leading toward caverns in the distance.
I found Bixie south of the dens, set up with equipment and watching the caves.
Two gnomes had followed magnataur into a place called The Dens of Dying. I was starting to understand how Fizzcrank lost so many people.
Bixie had found what she came for, and it was the magnataur dying without being allowed to rest, so Oh Great… Plagued Magnataur!
