Quest Giver: Har’koa — Zim’Torga, Zul’Drak [59, 57]

Objective: Use the Key of Warlord Zol’Maz to unlock Akali‘s four anchor chains in the courtyard in front of Gundrak [78, 24]. Then report to Witch Doctor Khufu at Zim’Torga.

Walkthrough

• Travel to the courtyard in front of Gundrak’s entrance at [78, 24]. Akali, the rhino god, is chained up here surrounded by Drakkari trolls.
• Use the Key of Warlord Zol’Maz on each of the four Akali Anchor Chains to break them. The area is crawling with hostile ice trolls, but you don’t need to fight your way through if you’re careful. Rogues can sap and stealth through the whole thing without ever leaving stealth.
• After all four chains are broken, Akali is freed and goes on a rampage, hurling roughly 50 trolls through the air. It’s one of the most entertaining spectacles in Zul’Drak. Sit back and watch the show.
• You get quest credit when Akali is unfettered. You do not need to wait for the event to finish. But you should, because the RP is worth it.
• The Prophet of Akali appears, yells “ENOUGH!”, drains Akali’s power, and kills him. The Prophet then threatens to come for Har’koa next.
• Return to Witch Doctor Khufu at Zim’Torga [59, 57] to turn in.

Troubleshooting

• Akali already unchained when you arrive: If another player recently completed the event, Akali may still be mid-rampage or dead. Wait for the event to fully reset. He will respawn with chains.
• Akali stuck/not responding: This quest has been known to bug on private servers and occasionally on live. If the event doesn’t trigger after unlocking all four chains, try leaving the area and returning. If it persists, submit a ticket.

On Turn-In

• When you report to Khufu, a dramatic sequence plays out. Har’koa whispers in grief: “No, not Akali too!” Then the four Zul’Aman loa spirits speak through Khufu’s ritual:
  • Halazzi: Warns that you face great peril and must act quickly or Har’koa will die.
  • Nalorakk: Instructs you to find the “unblemished heart of the guardian” from Zim’Rhuk.
  • Jan’alai: Instructs you to gather the “gusty essence” of Quetz’lun’s deceased wardens.
  • Akil’zon: Ominously warns that the Prophet may be too powerful, but that you must try anyway.

Lore Context

This is the tragic climax of the loa salvation arc. After all the work you’ve done to save the Drakkari gods, from mercy-killing Rhunok to enabling Quetz’lun’s vengeance to collecting Mam’toth’s blood, you arrive just in time to free Akali… only to watch the Prophet of Akali steal his power and kill him moments later.

Khufu’s completion text says it all: “Another god destroyed, its power stolen.”

The Prophet of Akali is Gal’darah, the final boss of the Gundrak dungeon. His stolen rhino powers fuel his transformation abilities in the encounter. The chain’s final quests will send you after him.

The Zul’Aman loa (Halazzi, Nalorakk, Jan’alai, Akil’zon) are the same animal god spirits players encountered in the Zul’Aman raid in Burning Crusade. Their appearance here connecting the two troll storylines is one of WotLK’s best cross-content callbacks.
