Breaking Through Jin’Alai

Quest 3 of 3 in the Prophet Chain (Finale)
Alliance • Zul'Drak • Level 77 • Pools of Jin'Alai
Disturb 4 cauldrons at the Pools of Jin'Alai: Green [55.8, 64.4], Blue [57.3, 65.3], Red [58.8, 62.7], Purple [57.6, 61.7].
Right-click each cauldron (no cast time). Expect combat from nearby Drakkari. Route: Green → Blue → Red → Purple makes a clean loop. Pair with The Leaders at Jin'Alai from Scalper Ahunae at Zim'Torga. Kill trolls between cauldrons to spawn the three leaders for that quest. On turn-in, Khufu communes with Amani loa spirits from Zul'Aman who direct you toward the snow leopard goddess Har'koa. This launches the Dying Loa questline.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
The cauldrons shattered and the communion broke through, but the gods who answered Khufu's call weren't Drakkari. They were Amani spirits from Zul'Aman, and they pointed toward a snow leopard who might still be saved.

“I have been trying to commune with the gods. However, the medicine men at the Pools of Jin’Alai are performing rituals that are interfering with my attempts. It is imperative that we break through their obtrusion. If you were to head southwest into the pools area, I am certain that you would come across the cauldrons they are using for their magic.

Disturb each of the cauldrons to bring down their ritual that is blocking me.”

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Witch Doctor Khufu — Zim’Torga, Zul’Drak [59, 57]

Objective: Disturb the Blue, Green, Purple, and Red Cauldrons at the Pools of Jin’Alai.

Quick Facts

Walkthrough

Head to the Pools of Jin’Alai

  • Travel southwest from Zim’Torga to the Pools of Jin’Alai. The area is populated with hostile Drakkari trolls, so expect combat on the approach.

Disturb the Four Cauldrons

  • The cauldrons are right-click interactable objects spread across the pools area in a rough rectangle. No cast time, but nearby mobs may aggro when you approach.
  • Green Cauldron: [55.8, 64.4]
  • Blue Cauldron: [57.3, 65.3]
  • Red Cauldron: [58.8, 62.7]
  • Purple Cauldron: [57.6, 61.7]

Return to Witch Doctor Khufu

  • Head back to Zim’Torga [59, 57] and turn in. Upon completion, a special event triggers (see Lore section below).

Efficiency Tips

  • Do Alongside: Pick up The Leaders at Jin’Alai from Scalper Ahunae before heading out. That quest requires you to kill Drakkari trolls at the Pools of Jin’Alai until three leaders spawn (Kutube’sa, Gawanil, and Chulo the Mad), then loot their treasures. The mob killing you do while moving between cauldrons feeds directly into spawning those leaders.
  • Route: Start at the Green Cauldron (furthest west), move to Blue (south), then Red (east), then Purple (north). This makes a clean loop.
  • Mob Density: The area is fairly compact. AoE classes can pull multiple trolls between cauldrons for faster kills if working on The Leaders at Jin’Alai simultaneously.

Lore & Secrets

The Zul’Aman Spirits

The Drakkari medicine men’s rituals are blocking Khufu’s ability to commune with the gods. Once you disrupt the cauldrons, Khufu successfully makes contact, but not with Drakkari loa. Instead, the spirits of four Amani loa from Zul’Aman appear: Nalorakk, Akil’zon, Jan’alai, and Halazzi.

Players who ran the Zul’Aman raid in Burning Crusade will recognize these four as the animal bosses they fought. Here they appear as allied spirits, offering guidance on how to save the Drakkari gods. Nalorakk warns that the Drakkari “will be the death of both themselves and their gods.”

The spirits direct you toward “the spotted one” (Har’koa, the snow leopard loa), launching the emotional core of the entire Zul’Drak zone: the Dying Loa questline, where you witness firsthand what happens when a civilization sacrifices its own gods.

The Dying Loa Chain Context

This quest is the gateway to the longest and most significant quest chain in Zul’Drak. From here, you’ll visit each surviving Drakkari loa, witness their fates (mercy killings, suicides, and vengeance from beyond death), and eventually fight your way into Gundrak to confront the prophets who stole their power.

Cross-Expansion Connections

The Drakkari Legacy

  • Mists of Pandaria: The consequences of the Drakkari’s self-destruction play out on the Isle of Thunder, where Frost King Malakk leads the remnants of his people to join the Zandalari invasion. He appears as part of the Council of Elders boss fight in the Throne of Thunder.
  • Battle for Azeroth: In Zuldazar, the House of the Fallen Tribes confirms the Drakkari are “no more,” and the House of the Lost Loa contains stelae commemorating the sacrificed gods. Prophet Zul even attempts to use the Drakkari’s loa-draining methods against the Zandalari’s own gods.
  • Exploring Azeroth: Northrend: The Bronzebeard brothers visit Zim’Torga and report that Magni had a long conversation with Khufu about shamanism. Khufu tells them the power the Drakkari gained from killing their gods “is transitory.”

Warrior IconVikstone's War Journal

Khufu needed the ritual broken. “Medicine men at the Pools of Jin’Alai are performing magic that blocks my communion with the gods. Disturb each of their cauldrons.”

Vikstone Portrait Act 2
Illustrated by Christian DiBari and Simon Gough.

Four cauldrons. Blue, green, purple, red. Each guarded by Drakkari who died defending magic they didn’t fully understand.

The cauldrons themselves fought back when disturbed. Tendrils of energy, wards that burned. But magic designed to block communion wasn’t designed to stop steel.

Khufu felt the difference before I reached Zim’Torga. “Yes. Let us see if we can make contact with the gods now.”

The Amani spirits spoke of “the spotted one,” a snow leopard goddess still clinging to life somewhere in the upper tiers while her kin were being slaughtered around her. Finding Har’koa is the beginning of something much larger in To Speak With Har’koa.
