Lore Context
K3 is an independent goblin settlement founded by goblins who came to the Storm Peaks to scavenge titan machines. Progress on that goal has been minimal, thanks to threats from local gnolls (Savage Hill tribe), Snowblind snobolds, magnataur, and the Hyldnir frost vrykul.
Rin Duoctane was sent to Dalaran as an ambassador to recruit adventurers.
K3 sits at the southern foot of the zone and serves as the gateway to some of WotLK’s most important content: the Sons of Hodir reputation grind (mandatory shoulder enchants for raiders), the Thorim/Loken storyline, and eventually Ulduar itself.
During the Ulduar raid, goblins from K3 (Demolisher Engineer Blastwrench and crew) helped build the siege vehicles for the assault on the titan complex.

Vikstone's War JournalThe goblin in Dalaran’s sewers had a pitch, and he had clearly given it before.

“Hey there, pal! Do you like excitement and explosions?! Who doesn’t? I know just the place for you.” Ric Duoctane, according to the sign over the bar he was working out of. Cantrips and Crows. “Down at luxurious K3, they’re always making innovative inventions and finding all-new ways to make things blow up! Sounds thrilling, doesn’t it? Then, without changing expression or slowing down at all: “Mandatory disclaimer, manual labor may be required to partake in previously indicated excitement.”
I took the job. My shoulder had not moved properly since a lich put ice through the plate of it, the rune a titan golem burned into my forearm still would not fade, and I had spent the last three weeks choosing between people who trusted me. Manual labor sounded like a rest.
K3 clung to the southern edge of the Storm Peaks, patchwork structures and sputtering machinery held together by goblin optimism and whatever passes for engineering among them. Sholazar had not prepared me for the cold up here, which is nothing like the wet grave-cold of Dragonblight or the coastal damp of the Tundra.
Jeer Sparksocket looked me over once.
“Welcome to K3! We came here to make our way into those peaks and get our fair share of some of those amazing titan machines.” He let that sit a moment. “Progress on that end has been somewhat minimal, though.”
Above us, somewhere in all that white, Ulduar. The goblins had come to loot it and had gotten as far as a shantytown at the bottom of the slope.
“Gnolls, snobolds, magnataur… there’s no shortage of trouble to go around.” He kicked a frozen engine housing and it rang. “Not to mention, we can’t seem to keep any fliers in the air without their motors freezing.”
“There’s plenty of work to be done though. Lend a hand, eh?”
Things to kill and things to fix and nobody handing me a knife and asking which of my friends I liked least. Of course, with goblins, that state of affairs never lasts the week.
The goblins had promised explosions and delivered a list of chores, and the first one waiting was the least glamorous job in the Storm Peaks, because somebody had to Clean Up.
