Quick Facts
Walkthrough
When you accept this quest, Goregek the Gorilla Hunter spawns as your wolvar companion. He’ll follow you around and “help” fight apes while providing commentary.
Known issue: Goregek may initially spawn as hostile. Do NOT attack him. Use Goregek’s Shackles to dismiss him, then use the shackles again to resummon him as friendly.
Head east from Frenzyheart Hill to the Hardknuckle Clearing area around [60, 70] to find Foragers. Chargers are found further east, scattered around [62, 72] and near the river. The Foragers are non-aggressive (levels 75-76), while the Chargers are aggressive (levels 76-77), so watch your pulls near the Chargers.
Return to High-Shaman Rakjak at Frenzyheart Hill to turn in. If you need to pick up the next quest in the chain but Goregek isn’t present, use the shackles to resummon him.

Vikstone's War JournalThe shackles dangled from my wrist. Symbolic, apparently. My new “master” strutted beside me, barely reaching my hip.

“You think you so great hunter, eh?” Rakjak had said. “Goregek is great ape hunter. He slay so many ape you can’t count on claws. You the slave. You do what Goregek tell you.”
The Hardknuckle Clearing spread before us. These weren’t ordinary beasts. Gorillas the size of horses, with fists that could cave in plate armor. The foragers looked peaceful enough, hunched over the jungle floor, but the chargers did not.
Goregek pointed east and then stepped behind me. Apparently the “great ape hunter” preferred his slave to go first.
The foragers fell quickly with clean strikes and minimal fuss. Goregek watched from a safe distance, muttering what I assumed was either encouragement or criticism. Hard to tell.
Then the chargers came.
Nine hundred pounds of muscle closing ground fast. I pivoted, let the first one’s momentum carry it past, then buried my axe in its flank as it passed. The second caught a mace to the skull mid-charge.
Goregek had gone very quiet.
When I returned to Frenzyheart Hill, Rakjak stopped what he was doing.
“You still alive! Hardknuckles not eat you yet?” He paused, considered. “Maybe they eat you later.”
Then, grudgingly: “Goregek show silly night elf slave how it done.”
Goregek had contributed nothing to the hunt and would take full credit for all of it, which suited him fine, because his next idea involved Tormenting the Softknuckles.
