“The Scourge have sent their armies at the Argent Crusade and have been repelled. What they do now is called a ‘slash and burn.’ All prisoners that they hold at Scourgeholme will be executed and raised as servants of the Lich King. Undoubtedly the Argent Crusade will request that you give their soldiers a proper farewell. I’ll ask no such thing of you. To succeed we must kill Scourge indiscriminately.
Venture to Scourgeholme, northwest through the Breach, and lay waste to all that stand in your way.”

The Ebon Watcher’s Perspective
The Ebon Watcher explicitly rejects the Argent Crusade’s expected approach of giving fallen soldiers a proper farewell, instead demanding indiscriminate slaughter. It is a small but pointed illustration of the difference in philosophy between the two factions working alongside each other in Icecrown.

Vikstone's War Journal“The Scourge have sent their armies at the Argent Crusade and have been repelled,” Mograine said. “What they do now is called a ‘slash and burn.’ All prisoners that they hold at Scourgeholme will be executed and raised as servants of the Lich King.”

Prisoners. Not corpses lying about the field. Men and women taken alive off the Valley of Echoes in the last few days, who are still alive at this hour, and who will not be by the time I get up the pass.

He was raised himself. Whatever the Light did for him at that chapel, nobody stood over Darion Mograine’s body first and said the words, and he has not once asked anyone to say them since.
Northwest through the Breach. Everything in this place eventually goes through that hole.
The high priests keep to the ziggurats and pull shadow up out of the Depths beneath the place, and the trick with them is reaching them before the second casting. The first one I took on the stairs, mid-channel, and the shadow he had gathered went out of him and into the stone and left a mark I could still see on the way back down. The other two saw me coming and it made no difference to how it ended.
The underkings are nerubian and they carry themselves like landlords, which is fair enough, because they were. Scourgeholme is built over their halls. They have simply changed employers. Chitin gives at the joins if you have the weight to open it, and I did.
Then the crusaders.
They were prisoners this morning. Somebody in the Valley of Echoes is still writing their names on a duty roster. They came at me in Argent tabards over what the Scourge had done to them, and they were not slow and they were not clumsy, because the Lich King does not waste good soldiers by ruining what made them good.
“You have done well,” Mograine said. “Keeping their numbers down will give the Argent Crusade the time that they need to set a foundation.”
Killing them kept the numbers down and told the Crusade nothing about how the Scourge does it, and the thing worth carrying back out of Scourgeholme was not a corpse at all but The Scourgestone.
