Walkthrough

1. Accept quest from Scout Knowles at Ember Spear Tower [44, 58].
2. Head east into Halgrind.
3. Find the Apothecary’s Package at [51, 54].
4. Loot the package from the ground near the slain apothecary’s corpse.
5. Return to Scout Knowles.

Finding the Package

The package is located near the crossroads in central Halgrind, between the northernmost house and a small pond. Look for:

• A Forsaken apothecary corpse on the ground
• A small package next to the body with a faint sparkle

The item can be easy to miss. If you’re having trouble spotting it, enable “Show Quest Objectives” on your minimap or use a quest addon like Questie.

Approach Routes

From the East (Recommended): Enter Halgrind from the eastern side at approximately [52.7, 54.7]. There’s a path leading downhill directly to the package location. This approach minimizes the number of mobs you’ll encounter.

From the Road: Follow the main road into Halgrind and look for the apothecary’s corpse just left of the small pond in the village center.

Tips

• Plagued Vrykul: The vrykul in Halgrind are affected by the Forsaken plague. They have reduced health (around 1,000 HP) and aren’t particularly dangerous. Don’t be afraid to fight through a few if needed.
• Combine with Eternal Flame: If you haven’t finished destroying plague tanks yet, grab the package while you’re already in the area.
• Quick In-and-Out: This is a simple loot-and-leave quest. No need to clear the area. Get the package and get out.

Story Context

Scout Knowles saw an opportunity while you were destroying plague tanks:

“Well darn, we need some of that plague-stuff. I know! While you were destroying the vats, I happened to spy one of the apothecaries from New Agamand being pulled into Halgrind by the vrykul down in there. Poor fella’.”

He shows a moment of unexpected sympathy:

“That place looks like a nightmare. Vrykul or not, no one deserves to be the victim of the Royal Apothecary Society. Glad I’m standing safely over here.”

When you return with the package, Knowles is alarmed:

“Holy… what the hell?! Look at this stuff! We need to get this back to the keep a.s.a.p.!”

The package contains evidence of what the Forsaken are really doing at Halgrind. This isn’t just pest control. The Royal Apothecary Society is using vrykul as test subjects for their plague weapons.

Lore Note: Ironic Justice

There’s dark irony in this quest. The Forsaken came to Halgrind to test their plague on the vrykul. One of their apothecaries got captured and killed by the very victims they were experimenting on. Scout Knowles’ comment that “no one deserves to be the victim of the Royal Apothecary Society” applies equally to the vrykul being gassed and the apothecary who got dragged to his death.

The Alliance now has a sample of the plague and evidence of Forsaken operations. This leads directly to the investigation at Westguard Keep.
