Walkthrough

Confront the Traitor

• Head to the southernmost docked ship at Scalawag Point [35.9, 83.6]. Dan spawns on deck, usually near the aft or helm area.
• Talk to him. Your gossip option reads: “Umm… the frog says you’re a traitor, ‘matey.'”
• Dan immediately turns hostile and attacks, yelling: “Curse that frog! Yes, I joined the Southsea crew — you want to make something of it, mate? I’ll cut you down here and now!”
• He’s a level 70 human pirate. Straightforward solo fight with no special mechanics.

Return to Terry

• Head back to Handsome Terry at Scalawag Point to turn in.
• Terry’s reaction is classic pirate pragmatism: “That’s some sad news. Dan was me old friend… AND he owed me money. Either way, if he was working with the Southsea mongrels he got what he deserved.”
• He finishes with: “As for you, my friend. You’re on your way up. Literally.” — a nod to the next quest sending you upstairs to meet Annie Bonn, second-in-command of the Northsea Freebooters.

Efficiency Tips

• This is a quick kill-and-return quest. No travel outside Scalawag Point required.
• After turning in, immediately pick up Meet Number Two from Terry, which sends you to Annie Bonn in the building behind him (top floor).

Lore Context

• This quest is the payoff for the entire traitor investigation arc. Zeh’gehn’s frog ritual in the previous quest pointed directly at Dan’s ship, and now you confront him with the evidence. Dan confesses to defecting to the Southsea Freebooters, a rival pirate faction based in Kalimdor (Tanaris, the Barrens, Thousand Needles). The Northsea Freebooters despise their Southsea counterparts, so Dan’s betrayal is a serious offense within the crew.
• Terry’s grief is genuine but short-lived. His mention of Dan owing him money is a perfect character beat; for a pirate, personal betrayal and unpaid debts carry about equal weight.

Easter Egg

• Dan says “For the Alliance” when you deselect him (click away from his target frame). This is an oddity for a neutral-faction pirate NPC and may be a developer oversight or a subtle hint at his divided loyalties.
