To help, you must first kill those who betrayed me. Bjomolf hunts to the northwest of a place called Steel Gate. And look for Varg to the southeast, near the West Spear Tower.

Ulfang has asked you to kill the traitorous worgs, Bjomolf and Varg. Return to him in disguise in the Rivenwood after you have done so. If you somehow lose the Worg Disguise, return to Watcher Moonleaf for a replacement.

Turn In: Ulfang (same NPC; must be wearing Worg Disguise)
Objective: Kill Bjomolf and Varg, then return to Ulfang in disguise.

Lore Context
This quest reveals the power struggle within the Fanggore worg pack. Ulfang was the alpha male until “the strange white worg, Garwal, came from the north” and seized control with help from Bjomolf and Varg, Ulfang’s former brothers.
Ulfang describes Garwal as “unnatural,” which is a significant hint at what’s really going on. The chain’s climax in Alpha Worg reveals why.
WoW History Note: Garwal became one of the most famous NPCs in WoW hunter history. During patch 3.1, hunters discovered that Garwal briefly transforms into a worgen at 50% health during the Alpha Worg quest, and with precise timing on Tame Beast, they could capture him as the only worgen pet in the game.
Blizzard eventually hotfixed this in July 2009, reverting all tamed Garwals to normal white worg models. Just months later, Blizzard announced playable worgen for Cataclysm at BlizzCon 2009. The “Garwal Incident” remains a legendary chapter in the history of the hunter community.
The names Bjomolf and Varg are Norse in origin. “Varg” means “wolf” in Scandinavian languages. “Ulfang” contains “ulf,” the Old Norse word for wolf, fitting the zone’s pervasive vrykul/Nordic theming.

Ulfang’s tail beat once against the cave floor when he saw me.
“I was alpha male until the last full moon. Then the strange white worg, Garwal, came from the north, and with the help of my once-brothers, he quickly became alpha worg. There is something unnatural about him.”
His hackles rose.
“To help, you must first kill those who betrayed me. Bjomolf hunts to the northwest of a place called Steel Gate. And look for Varg to the southeast, near the West Spear Tower.” His gaze locked on mine. “They will not be fooled by your form.”
Bjomolf caught my scent before I reached his hunting grounds. The disguise meant nothing to him. Black fur, battle-scarred, larger than any worg I’d faced. He came fast and low, jaws snapping for my throat. I pivoted, drove my mace into his flank mid-lunge. He rolled, recovered, came again. This time I met him with the weapon’s full weight.
Varg had frost-rimmed fur, smarter. He’d watched his brother’s pattern and learned. The first exchange left teeth marks in my arm. The second left him staggering from a shield bash. The third ended him.
I returned to Ulfang’s cave wearing their blood. A low growl of satisfaction rose from his throat. “The smell of their blood upon your muzzle pleases me. Brothers should not turn on each other.”
No. They shouldn’t.
The betrayers were dead and Ulfang wanted a look at the Alpha’s ground before committing to anything, which Moonleaf could arrange by lending Vikstone the Eyes of the Eagle.
