Walkthrough

Curator Insivius stands on a fourth platform at [50, 33], the “grounded” platform Etaruk mentioned during the previous quest. Unlike the three floating platforms you destroyed, this one sits on the upper rim of the quarry on the northwest side.

How to Reach the Platform:

Option 1: Ridge Route (Recommended)

• From Amber Ledge, take the path along the ridge
• Keep the quarry on your right as you travel east along the cliffs
• The platform is a dark grey and blue disk on the quarry’s upper rim
• Jump down onto the platform and engage

Option 2: Back Ridge Route (Fewer Mobs)

• Navigate the cliff edges behind the buildings in Amber Ledge
• This approach has fewer enemies if you’re not confident handling multiple pulls

Option 3: Flying Mount

• If you have Cold Weather Flying, simply fly directly to the platform and land
• Easiest approach by far

Combat

Curator Insivius is a blue drakonid. He’s a straightforward solo fight with no special mechanics. Clear any nearby mobs before engaging to avoid adds.

Pet Pull Trick: If you’re below the platform and have a pet, send your pet to attack Curator Insivius, then set it to passive. When your pet returns, Insivius will follow and jump down to a more advantageous position for you to fight.

If He’s Not There: The respawn timer is just over 2 minutes. Wait briefly and he’ll reappear.

Efficiency Tip: Combine with Picking Up the Pieces

If you also have Picking up the Pieces (from Elder Atkanok), you can collect tuskarr ritual objects scattered along the ridge on your way to or from Insivius’s platform. This saves a trip through the quarry.

Story Context: The Commander Falls

This quest concludes Etaruk’s chain by eliminating the leader of the mage hunter forces.

Etaruk’s description: “The leader of the mage hunter forces is a fearsome creature called Curator Insivius. My people have hunted the beasts of the seas and land for countless generations, but I’ve never seen anything like this curator before.”

For a tuskarr fisherman accustomed to hunting seals and whales, encountering a blue drakonid must be genuinely terrifying. Drakonids are massive, bipedal dragon-like creatures that tower over most humanoids.

Upon completion: “The curator and his men must’ve thought the quarry an easy target for their looting, but you’ve shown them otherwise. I am deeply grateful for your help and I’m certain the ancestors will continue to watch over you.”

With Curator Insivius dead, the platforms destroyed, and the Beryl forces routed, the Coldrock Quarry is liberated. The tuskarr can begin the long process of recovering their sacred site.

Lore: What is a Drakonid?

Curator Insivius is a blue drakonid, one of the dragonkin races that serve the five dragonflights. Drakonids are bipedal, humanoid dragon creatures, distinct from the four-legged dragonspawn.

Drakonids were originally mortals who received the “blessing” of dragons, taking on draconic qualities through exposure to dragon essence. This process doesn’t have to be voluntary; mortals have been transformed both by willingly serving dragons and by having draconic power forced upon them. Regardless of origin, drakonid take on the coloration of their parent flight, with blue drakonid serving Malygos and the blue dragonflight.

During the Nexus War, drakonid formed part of the blue dragonflight’s ground forces alongside dragonspawn. While dragonspawn made up much of Malygos’s armies, drakonid served in command and specialist roles.

Curator Insivius’s title suggests he was responsible for cataloging and recovering magical artifacts from the quarry, fitting the blue dragonflight’s mission to control all arcane power.

Lore: Why “Curator”?

The title “Curator” is significant. Curators manage collections, and that’s precisely what Insivius was doing at Coldrock Quarry.

The blue dragonflight didn’t randomly attack the tuskarr. They specifically targeted this quarry because the tuskarr use a particular stone for their ancestor statues. The mages wanted this stone to craft surge needles, massive constructs used to redirect ley line energy to the Nexus as part of Malygos’s campaign.

Insivius was overseeing this operation: cataloging the quarry’s resources, directing the Treasure Hunters’ looting, and ensuring the stolen artifacts were loaded onto the floating platforms for transport. His death ensures none of those stolen relics will reach the Nexus.
