“Oi… it’s like there’s a propeller in my stomach. I think I can walk, but I got something nasty in my system when I got bit by something in the back of the cave. It was bigger than the other spiders… and brightly colored. Ricket can probably make me an antidote, but she’d need the venom sac from whatever bit me. Would you mind finding it for me? I don’t think Tore’s coming.
I’ll just pretend I’m dead here and hopefully they’ll leave me alone.”

Vikstone's War JournalThe goblin miner lay against the cavern wall, skin gone the color of old cheese. Poison sweats.

“Oi… it’s like there’s a propeller in my stomach.” He managed a weak grin. “I think I can walk, but I got something nasty in my system when I got bit by something in the back of the cave. It was bigger than the other spiders… and brightly colored.”
He gestured vaguely toward the darkness.
“Ricket can probably make me an antidote, but she’d need the venom sac from whatever bit me. Would you mind finding it for me? I don’t think Tore’s coming. I’ll just pretend I’m dead here and hopefully they’ll leave me alone.”
The back of the cave. Where the light stopped and the webs grew thicker.
The Icetip Crawler waited there, purple carapace gleaming like a bruise. It had been expecting me. Eight eyes tracked my approach as it rose to its full, terrible height.
It struck fast. Fangs meant for my throat met the shield instead, the impact singing up my arm. I answered with the mace, shattering the chitin of its forward leg. The creature recoiled, reassessing.
Its next attack came low, trying to tangle my feet. I drove the shield rim into its face, felt something crunch, and brought the mace down on its thorax before it could recover. Once. Twice. The third blow found something vital.
The venom sac pulsed with sickly green light as I cut it free.
The miner’s face brightened when I returned.
“That should cut it… I hope Ricket can put something together for me. Ready to get out of there, then?”
