Phase 5 BiS for Arms Warriors in WotLK Classic: Defiler’s Scourgestone catch-up gear, Sidereal Essence vendors, gems, enchants, and top trinkets.
Intro to Arms Endgame Gearing
Vikstone's Endgame Briefing
The Short List Before the Shopping Trip
Every target here has its full table further down. Hit the caps, pick a path, spend accordingly.
The reasoning behind every cap lives in the WotLK Classic Warrior Leveling Guide's stat section. This page is where you act on it.
Table of Contents
Hitting 80 changes the mission. Between 68 and 79 you took whatever the road gave you, and it worked, because the WotLK Classic Warrior Leveling Guide taught a spec that forgives rough gear. At the level cap, forgiveness ends. Bosses stop missing you by accident, caps start mattering, and the gap between a prepared Arms Warrior and a fresh one shows up on every damage meter.
This guide covers the gearing paths that get you there without needing a raid roster: the Phase 5 pre-raid list, the Defiler’s Scourgestone pipeline that converts dungeon runs into Tier 9, the reputation and Argent Tournament routes, and the gems, enchants, and consumables that finish the job. Pick the path that matches how you actually play. The gear at the end is the same.
Best Arms Warrior Glyphs for the Endgame
Every Arms build, leveling or endgame, stands on the same six talents. Improved Overpower (2/2) for the crit that feeds Deep Wounds, Taste for Blood (3/3) so Rend keeps handing you Overpowers, Sudden Death (2/3) for Executes against healthy targets, and the three you’d never skip anyway: Mortal Strike, Sweeping Strikes, and Bladestorm. Whatever you decide at 80, those points don’t move. The respec conversation is about everything around them.
At the level cap, the calculation flips. The leveling build spent its final points on rage conveniences for the road, and the road is over. The third major glyph slot opens the same day. One trip to the trainer and the auction house handles both, and the loadout below shows exactly what changes.
One situational note for dungeon grinders: Glyph of Overpower is a worthy alternative major for elite-heavy content. Parried attacks enable Overpower, and elites parry often.
The Level 80 Respec
Glyphs and Talents After the Ding
Two things change the day you hit 80: a third major slot opens, and the leveling conveniences in your build stop earning their keep.
Major Glyphs at 80
Minor Glyphs at 80
Open Slot
Enduring Victory loses value once mobs stop dying every few seconds.
Glyph of Charge or Glyph of Command are the usual picks. Player's choice.
The Talent Side of the Respec
The Flexible Points
Protection utility retires
Improved Bloodrage and Incite earned their keep on the road, where rage between pulls was the bottleneck. At 80, geared and shouting in groups, those points become your flexible budget.
Where They Go
Follow your role
Move them toward damage if you're a pure DPS, or keep utility if you off-tank. Test the options in the talent calculator before paying the respec twice.
The Real Answer
Dual Talent Specialization
One build for damage, one for Protection tanking. It's the best gold a fresh 80 spends, and no one likes a Warrior who can't tank.
The leveling build and its full talent trees live in the WotLK Classic Warrior Leveling Guide. This is what changes when the road ends.
Glyphs are auction house purchases. Buy the endgame set before your first Heroic night, they cost less than one wipe's repair bill.
Arms Warrior Stats at Level 80
Leveling stats were about momentum. Endgame stats are about thresholds. A raid boss sits three levels above you, and until your Hit and Expertise close that gap, some fraction of everything you press simply doesn’t happen. Close the caps first, because a missed Mortal Strike deals zero damage no matter how much Strength sits behind it.
After the caps, Arms becomes a gear conversation. Armor Penetration is the stat the spec eventually revolves around, but it only pays once your gear can push toward the threshold. Until then, Strength and Crit remain the honest answer. The priorities below set the order, and the gem and enchant tables after them do the shopping.
Level 80 Stat Priority
The Caps Come First
Raid bosses sit three levels above you. Until Hit and Expertise close that gap, some of what you press simply doesn't land.
The Order at a Glance
1First Cap
Hit Rating: 263
8% so special attacks can't miss a raid boss. A Draenei's Heroic Presence drops the target to 7%, which is 230 rating. A missed Mortal Strike deals zero, no matter the Strength behind it.
2The Dodge Cap
Expertise: 18 displayed
Attack from behind so parries never happen, then erase dodge. Strength of Arms grants 4 directly, so gear supplies about 115 rating. Racial weapon bonuses count too. Arms holds this stat looser than other melee, since dodges feed Overpower: take it as gear offers it, never gem for it.
3The Gear Decision
Armor Penetration or Strength
In Battle Stance, 1,260 ArP rating is the Arms hard cap: the stance's 10% covers the rest. With an ArP proc trinket, your passive target drops to 1,260 minus the proc's value, so the proc doesn't overcap. Gem Fractured when your gear can make the climb, Bold when it can't. Never bench a clearly better item for lacking ArP.
4The Steady Earners
Crit, then Haste dead last
Crit keeps Deep Wounds rolling and stays welcome on every piece. Haste remains the lowest Arms priority at every stage of the game.
Cap Hit, clear the dodge table, then let your actual gear pick between ArP and Strength. The gem and enchant tables below execute the choice.
Expertise math assumes 2/2 Weapon Mastery and 2/2 Strength of Arms from the leveling build. The ratings table below has the exact conversion rates, and the reasoning behind the big three lives in the WotLK Classic Warrior Leveling Guide's stat section.
Stat Ratings Reference
The Numbers Behind the Priorities
Caps, goals, and how much rating buys 1% at level 80. The order to chase them in is the element above.
| Stat | Cap or Goal | Rating per 1% | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hit Rating | 263 (8%) | 32.78 | 230 (7%) with a Draenei's Heroic Presence. |
| Expertise | 18 displayed (~115 rating from gear) | 8.2 per point | Assumes 2/2 Weapon Mastery and 2/2 Strength of Arms. Take from gear, never gem for it. |
| Armor Penetration | 1,260 (Arms) | 13.99 | 1,400 for other specs. Battle Stance's 10% covers the rest. |
| Strength | No cap | 2 AP per point | Never capped, never wasted. |
| Critical Strike | Variable | 45.91 | Priority if the ArP cap isn't a realistic goal. |
| Haste Rating | No cap | 25.21 | Lowest priority at every stage of the game. |

Phase 1 Pre-Raid BiS List: Gearing a Fresh 80
A fresh 80 gears in layers: heroics, reputation, crafting, and the first emblems. Every piece on this board is obtainable without a raid lockout, and together they make you Naxxramas-ready. Work it top to bottom, and let the Cleaver be the reason you learn Halls of Lightning by heart.

Every piece here builds the foundation for Naxxramas and early Northrend endgame while setting up the later phase upgrades. Ingvar drops both the legs and the crossbow, so Heroic Utgarde Keep earns its place on your daily rotation.
Phase 5 Pre-Raid BiS List: The Catch-Up Loadout
Phase 5 collapsed the gearing curve. Between the Sidereal Essence hard-mode vendors and the Scourgestone pipeline, a dungeon-only Warrior can assemble near-raid power in a couple of focused weeks. Here is how the currencies flow, and below it, the loadout they buy.

Phase 5 BiS List: The Final Arsenal
This is the ceiling: Icecrown Citadel and Ruby Sanctum on 25 Heroic, with a legendary at the summit. Treat it as a map of what matters. Most upgrades here are earned across a raid tier, and the notes tell you which fights to save your rolls for.
Phase 5 BiS · The Ceiling
The Final Arsenal
Icecrown Citadel and Ruby Sanctum on 25 Heroic, with a legendary at the summit. The notes tell you which fights to save your rolls for.
Two-Hand WeaponLegendary
Legendary questline, Icecrown Citadel
The dream: 3 sockets, top stats, an incredible proc. Best non-legendary is Oathbinder from Heroic Lich King. Avoid Glorenzelg (expertise overcap on a sword). Bridge options: Bloodfall, Bryntroll, and Shadow's Edge.
Helm
Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Helmet (277)
ICC 25 Heroic · multiple bosses
4p T10 is too good to pass, and tier helms carry excellent stats. Upgrade to 277 as soon as possible.
Neck
Ruby Sanctum 25 Heroic
284 ilvl and BiS. Before it drops, use Lana'thel's Chain of Flagellation. Arms prefers the Blood-Queen neck.
Shoulders
Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Shoulderplates (277)
ICC 25 Heroic · multiple bosses
Wear for 4p T10. Even 2p helps on cleave before set completion.
Back
Vereesa's Dexterity / Sylvanas' Cunning
Trial of the Crusader, Tribute Chest
The ToC cloaks still hold up. The Gunship cloak comes close, and the badge cape trails by about 60 DPS.
Chest
Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Battleplate (277)
ICC 25 Heroic · multiple bosses
High stats and part of your tier set. Often the first big badge purchase.
Wrists
Ruby Sanctum 25 Heroic
Technically BiS. Toskk's Maximized Wristguards are nearly identical and friendlier if your ArP is shaky. All 277 bracers land close together.
Hands
Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Gauntlets (277)
ICC 25 Heroic · multiple bosses
Tier gloves win for Arms. Aldriana's Gloves of Secrecy make a good offpiece if you also play Fury.
Waist
ICC 25 Heroic, Professor Putricide
Barely edges out Coldwraith Links. The difference is tiny, either belt works.
Legs
ICC 25 Heroic, Lady Deathwhisper
Mail legs and uncontested, so grab them early. Backups: T10 legs or Ivory-Inlaid Leggings (10H).
Feet
Ruby Sanctum 25 Heroic
Massive Hit and great stats. Alternatives: Blood-Soaked Saronite Stompers (Deathwhisper, leather). Frostbitten Fur Boots trail by only about 40 DPS.
Ring 1
Ashen Band of Endless Vengeance
Ashen Verdict, Exalted
Use the Agility version. The Strength version is much worse.
Trinket 1
ICC 25 Heroic, Deathbringer Saurfang
Second-best upgrade in the phase after your weapon, and key for reaching the ArP cap. Fight hard for it if Shadowmourne isn't yours.
Trinket 2
Ruby Sanctum 25 Heroic
BiS partner to Deathbringer's Will, more consistent thanks to the shorter ICD. Replaces Whispering Fanged Skull, and Death's Verdict still competes well.
Ranged
Fal'inrush, Defender of Quel'thalas
ICC 25 Heroic, The Lich King
Pure stat stick. Even at 284 it beats the ToC weapons by only about 100 DPS, so let Hunters take priority.
These picks assume 25 Heroic ICC content. In 10 Heroic or normal modes, the listed alternatives serve until the higher tier opens up. Frost Emblem spending order and the Ruby Sanctum upgrades follow below.
Spending Your Frost Emblems
You’ll rack up Emblem of Frost from ICC runs and your daily heroic. The tier set only drops from badges or VoA, so plan your purchases:
- First: Ymirjar Lord’s Battleplate (chest) – 95 Emblems
- Second: Ymirjar Lord’s Shoulderplates – 60 Emblems
- Third: Ymirjar Lord’s Helmet – 95 Emblems
- Last: Ymirjar Lord’s Gauntlets – 60 Emblems
Most people grab chest first because it has the highest stat budget. Shoulders work too if you snag a good off-piece chest early. Save gloves for last since they drop from the new VoA boss. One quirk: you have to buy the 251 version before upgrading to 277. No shortcuts.
Ruby Sanctum Game-Changers
When RS dropped, these became instant upgrades:
- Sharpened Twilight Scale (trinket) – Replaced Whispering Fanged Skull
- Apocalypse’s Advance (boots) – Massive hit rating, lets you regem other slots for Strength/ArP
- If you swap away from the Fal’inrush crossbow, you might need to regem other slots before you get that Twilight Scale to compensate for the ArP loss.
Gearing Strategy Notes
- Don’t break your T9 set bonuses just to equip one upgrade. The 4-piece T10 (helm, shoulders, chest, gloves) becomes your foundation.
- Gem for ArP until you hit 1,260 rating. After that, pump Strength. The Halion boots free up gem slots in other pieces since they’re loaded with hit.
- Swapping gear changes your stat balance. Losing ArP from one piece might mean regemming two or three other slots to compensate. Keep an eye on your total ArP before and after any major upgrade.
- Most importantly, these recommendations assume you’re running 25H ICC content. If you’re in 10H or normal mode, some alternatives work just fine until you get access to the higher-tier stuff.
